Airports
Your best connections for flights to Tamarindo will be through the Liberia International Airport (LIR) in Costa RIca. This is going to be your most convenient option when headed to Guanacaste Province. This airport promotes "Baggage to Beach in 30 minutes. So they make it a priority to get you out to your final destination. Drive time from Liberia to Tamarindo is approx. 90 mins using either a car, or shuttle service.

Ground Transportation & Shuttle Services
Liberia Airport (LIR) offers convenient shuttle services upon your arrival. In addition, Maravilla has teamed up with a local vendor to provide affordable taxi services to various destinations in and around Tamarindo Beach. This service features vehicles that can comfortably accommodate up to 8 passengers, allowing you to explore the area's attractions without overspending. Plus, we have partnered with a local golf course, enabling visitors to rent golf carts easy transportation while enjoying Tamarindo. While renting a car is an option, it’s certainly not necessary. Also note, that Uber (ride-share program) is available too! Don't forget, we encourage you to connect with our Host to learn more about our shuttle opportunities.

Costa Rican Border Patrol / Customs / Passport
Travelers to Costa Rica can look forward to a smooth and pleasant customs process at any of the country's airports. Passing through customs here is renowned as one of the best experiences you’ll ever have. Border agents are polite and kind, ensuring you feel welcome from the moment you land. Most agents are bilingual, with a strong command of English, so communication is easy and stress-free; so you can expect efficient and friendly service.
As with all travel to any foreign country. It is important to make sure that you have your passport up-to-date. It's recommended to have at least six months of validity remaining on your passport beyond your intended departure date from your destination. This means your passport should be valid for at least six months after you plan to leave the country you're visiting. This requirement helps ensure that you won't face any issues with entry or exit. It is also important to let your customs agent aware of your return dates, back to your place of origin, and proof of your return flight, if requested by the agent.

Airlines
There are 3 major US airlines that offer daily, non-stop flights between LIR and many major US cities. Be sure to consult with your airfare booking platform, for the best options. Airlines offering travel directly to Costa Rica include American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines. Other airlines do include travel to LIR, but may include other stops along the way. Consider using JetBlue, Alaska or Southwest Airlines, at alternative airlines when travelling to Costa Rica.

Costa Rica's official currency is the Costa Rican colón (CRC), but US dollars are widely accepted throughout the country. Travelers find that many businesses, hotels, and restaurants readily accept dollars, making it convenient to use without the need for conversion.
